How to get to Los Alamos?

  • The Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) is the primary airport for Northern New Mexico. The airport houses about a dozen national, international, and regiounal carriers and is about an two-hour drive (95 miles) from Los Alamos.

  • The Santa Fe Regional Airport (SAF) offers multiple flights daily to Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Houston, and Los Angeles. SAF is about an hour drive (30 miles) from Los Alamos.

  • CAR RENTALS:

    • Los Alamos may be reached from Albuquerque International Airport by a scenic two-hour drive. Rental cars are available at the Albuquerque airport through all major companies.
  • SHUTTLE SERVICES:

    • Groome Transportation (formerly Sandia Shuttle) offers service from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. For a schedule or to make a reservation go to: their website or call 1-505-474-5696.
    • Road Runner shuttle offers service from Albuquerque to Los Alamos. Call (505) 424-3367 to schedule a pick-up.
  • RAIL SERVICE:

    • You can take the train from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and then connect to Park and Ride bus service to Los Alamos. Note the Park and Ride only operates weekdays. https://www.riometro.org/167/Schedules
  • Santa Fe, New Mexico, is located at over 7,000 feet above sea level in the Rocky Mountains, making it a high-altitude, dry climate destination with no ocean access. Los Alamos is equidistant from the ports of Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA. Connect with another mode of transportation.
